Low-key Comfort
Something about a nice day and a festival, even a small one on a local street, brings out the child in anyone who passes by. Simply looking at this scene of a few vendors with their goods and the neighborhood out taking it in creates a natural smile for us. We’ve all been that little child at one time or another. Looking with wonder and a certain bit of contentment at the world around us. We may even have stood dreaming of how we could wrap our fingers around the string of one of the bright balloons for sale and take home a piece of the day’s joy with us. As the bustle picks up, with people coming out from their homes drawn by sunshine and the smell of local food, it’s a good day to be there for it all. A pleasant pace is kept by lines of neighbors talking as they get their midday meal, mouths watering and remembering the last time this food cart popped up on their lucky street. For once, nobody is looking for an escape because the current experience is too perfect to miss. These are the days we will look back on and savor. The ones where we didn’t have to dig in to find sparks of joy and instead they showed up right at our doorstep, one ray of sunshine and bright balloon at a time.
