From sunup to sun down we can easily find ourselves in a hurry. We answer emails while we eat dinner, we tell friends we will get together some day ‘when things just aren’t so busy’, and we create an endless to-do list of things we feel must be accomplished right this minute. At the same time, we often talk about life as a journey, one that we get the joy of experiencing each and every day. If the journey is more important than the destination, what's the rush? Why not take things slow enough to enjoy the trip? Maybe even slow enough to see someone you know on the side of the street and stop for a friendly chat. It can make the world feel so much more peaceful to slow down. To allow our brains to rest and our emotions to experience a moment in full color. Just because it's possible, doesn't mean you have to live as fast as you can everyday.⠀ Sometimes going slow has to be forced. An intentional decision to go for an evening walk or relax with a favorite slow song, instead of browsing the latest social media feeds where we are reminded of all the things we aren’t currently doing. When we make small but regular choices to slow the world around us, we are able to be more present in each moment, to truly experience the journey that is our one and only life. Sure we only have so much time here on Earth. We can't help that. But if we're just along for the ride, it seems like we ought to be going slow enough to truly enjoy the journey. Let it not be such a blur. I hope you're able to slow down just a little bit. Just enough to enjoy what's passing by right beside you.
